Rebuilding a slate block wall with stone coping in Talysarn, near Penygroes, Caernarfon, Gwynedd
The front wall of this house in Talysarn near Penygroes, Gwynedd had started to become unsafe and was near collapse. The answer was to rebuild it from the ground up.
It was taken down and rebuilt with existing slate blocks and coping on the finished top. Rather than mortar, a lime render mix which bonds well to slate and retains some flexibility for a long life was used.
The job took under a week but the rebuilt wall should last another 50 years without problems.
